I Surrender

Hi friend.  Are you weary?  Have you found yourself looking at another week that seems so much like last week, and you fear it will end in the same way last week did too- missed appointments, missed opportunities, harsh words spoken, feelings hurt, and with the same to-do list you started with last week still undone?

Do you feel like you are on the hamster wheel of life, but your wheel is spinning out of control and you can’t keep up.  Every few seconds it takes you around with it because you just weren’t going fast enough.

I have those days too.

Here I am
Down on my knees again
Surrendering all
And find me here
Lord as You draw me near
Desperate for You
I surrender

I’ve had months and years like that.  But I’m coming out of that tunnel now.  I can tell you there is a lot of company in that tunnel.  The norm in society right now is to do more, get more, be more.  But God says you are enough, just as you are.

Drench my soul
As mercy and grace unfold
I hunger and thirst
With arms stretched wide
I know You hear my cry
Speak to me now
I surrender
I wanna know You more

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”-Matthew 11:28-30
The Bible commands us to rest.  Have you heard the saying, “if the Devil can’t make you bad he’ll make you busy”?  When we are overburdened, over busy, over extended what happens is our fuse gets really short.  Our emotions are not in check and we have a general feeling of being not enough.  This is how he gets us to forget who we are and WHOSE we are.  We are not called to this life.  We are called to have time to rest and refresh our souls. To have quiet with our God.  To truly know Him, we have to have time for Him.  We NEED to slow down.

Like a rushing wind
Jesus breathe within
Lord have Your way
Lord have Your way in me
Like a mighty storm
Stir within my soul
Lord have Your way
Lord have Your way in me

“There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God;  for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.  Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.”- Hebrews 4:9-11

Can you find time this week to rest?  Maybe you’re looking at your schedule and thinking “no way”.  See if you can find just 10 minutes each day this week where you come to the feet of Jesus and rest.  Then next week try for 20 minutes.  It’s sort of counter-intuitive, but I try to get up before my family and have some time to listen to praise music.  Sometimes I do my bible study, sometimes I just listen to the music.  I have a few plans on the Bible App that I am doing, but I don’t fret if I don’t get the plan done.  Sometimes, I need to just listen and rest- not do.  I also spend some time each night writing scripture in my bullet journal after the kids go to bed.  That way His words are fresh in my mind before I go to bed.  These are little nuggets of time that I have found the Lord magnifies to be the anchors to my day.  Let me know in the comments below the ways that you try to connect.

Start right here. Where you are. Listen to this song and just be with God.

Like a rushing wind
Jesus breathe within
Lord have Your way
Lord have Your way in me
Like a mighty storm
Stir within my soul
Lord have Your way
Lord have Your way in me

Friend, you ARE enough.
Love, Semalee
